Lufthansa orders 55 Airbus A350-900s.

This was news in September, but it´s never to late to repeat it here on my blog.
Lufthansa has approved an expansion of its long-haul fleet, and what would be more natural than to turn to Airbus? And they did, a commitment for up to 55 new A350-900s was signed.

The order consists of 25 firm orders and 30 options. Lufthansa also negotiated a flexibility to convert some of the orders to the larger A350-1000.

So far in 2013, Airbus has won more firm orders from the German airline in a single year than ever before. To sum it all up, the commitments (firm and options) comes to 232 aircraft, one more than the 231 Airbus aircraft currently in operation with Lufthansa.
Impressive year, impressive figures.

And if this wasn´t enough, recently Lufthansa (with plenty of cash it seems) annunced an order for 100 A320 aircraft to switch its single-aisle fleet category entirely to Airbus.
Surprised?
No not at all, look at what the American airlines do, they buy Boeing aircraft by the hundreds. Have you seen an American arline flying the A380 yet? Nope.
And this while Asia, Middle East and Europe in a smaller scale order them if not daily basis, but every now and then. Emirates ordered 50 A380s a month ago!
