Oljan, ja den ändliga oljan....

Oljan är billig nu. Vissa oljeberoende producentländer knäar. Venezuela är väl det mest drastiska exemplet idag. Men de är fler där oljans betydelse visar sig i sinande statskassor. 

Och sinar gör även orsaken till de sinande ekonomierna, nämligen själva oljan, detta alldeles oavsett vad som sker nu med dumpade priser på oljemarknaden. Den konventionella råoljan har nått sin absoluta produktionsstopp, det är oljesand, skifferolja och andra okonventionella oljor som håller produktionsnivån något sånär uppe. Men eftersom det är kostsamt att utvinna den okonventionella oljan, så sjunker produktionstakten även där i allt snabbare takt. 

Bilden du ser här gjorde jag till Kjell Aleklett och hans bok Peeking at Peak Oil som släpptes 2012, ungefär precis i skarven till Fracking-boomen i USA. Boken tappade något i betydelse för den ytlige betraktaren, medans Kjell och hans forskarteam vid Uppsala universitet lade fram nya rön som visade på det faktum att oljan faktiskt är en ändlig råvara. Som vi måste acceptera och anpassa oss till. 

I Kjells nya bok, En värld drogad av olja, som jag också illustrerar, läggs ytterligare belägg fram som visar nedgången av råoljenivån i vår värld. Illustration här uppe passar bra till ämnet, timglaset bara sipprar och sipprar. 

Senare i höst kommer boken som en engelsk utgåva med titeln "A world addicted to Oil". Utgiven av Springer.

What Kjell Aleklett and his science-group UGES at Uppsala University has been trying to tell us for years.
Oil, crude, tight, light or whatever - oil is a resource that will be harder to find, more costly and there are less and less places to search for it.
So better prepare yourself, we are soon on the plateau when the demand overtakes what´s in the pumps.
I made this sketch for Kjell, when we tried to find a suitable illustration to one of his chapters in the second edition of Peeking at Peak Oil.
Yesterday I found it, and think it´s very illustrative to the topic.

Bokmässan i Göteborg. Välkomna dit.

Nu på torsdag slår portarna upp för årets upplaga av Bok & Biblioteksmässan i Göteborg.
I monter A03-57 finns Kjell Aleklett och jag stationerade, för att presentera boken "En värld drogad av olja". Den första svenska upplagan efter engelska Peeking at Peak Oil som kom ut 2012.
Nu under detta turbulenta oljeår, med priser som åker berg och dalbana och där frackingen/skifferoljan, som blommade under några år, nu plötsligt, för många bolag, blir mindre lönsamt, då är det inte lätt att för en forskare och författare som Kjell att hinna med. Att få allt rätt och på plats.
Än mindre att få med det som är aktuellt idag och förhoppningsvis i morgon, men inte igår.

Utan oljan vore inte vårt liv det det är idag, Kjell Aleklett skriver nu på den svenska upplagan av den engelska versionen Peeking at Peak Oil, som skrevs 2010, innan den nuvarande turbulenta oljemarknaden började hoppa upp och ner och framför allt, frackingens påverkan på hela oljeindustrin.

Men med några kapitel kvar att putsa på som kommer boken i tid innan julhandeln. Förlaget heter Exergena.

Illustrationerna till den svenska upplagan, likväl som till den spanska (som är under översättning) har jag gjort, det rör sig om ett hundratal. Många lite putsade på sedan den engelska Springer-utgåvan.

Peak oil is here. Please read what I as a layman have to say

There is no doubt about it, Peak Oil is here to stay, wheather we like it or not, and most of us, like me, don´t like it. 

I have been fortunate enough, as an illustrator, to work very closely to one the front scientists in the field of geology - Professor Kjell Aleklett of Uppsala University here in Sweden. 

If you look to the right column in this blog of mine, there is a short notice about the book Kjell wrote and I illustrated "Perhaps the most important book written this century", big words but not so exaggerated as it might sound. 

The book Peeking at Peak Oil is based on the research that Kjell and his group Uppsala Global Energy Systems (UGES) did over a period of almost ten years at the Department of Physics and Astronomy and later at the Department of Earth Sciences.

Amazon will be glad to send you a copy, because you better realise the fact that Peak Oil is here to stay. And all of us must do the best to prepare ourselfs.

And to make things even more convincing, you must read this in the British newspaper The Guardian. The former BP geologist Dr Richard G. Miller describes very clearly the present situation and where we are heading tomorrow and the day after tomorrow.

Please allow yourself the time to read the article, because it is important for everyone to understand the facts and reality. 

A reality that most, if not all, politicans and economists all over the world are trying to hide, bury in the sand or cover up, because if they let it up to the surface, the economy will immediatly react on the negative side. 

Some sort of panic will spread for the moment. And whom want that to happen?

No one, me neither. And not you.

Therefor it is vital that we slowly adopt to the fact - that the peak is here - so it doesn´t come as a complete surprise.

Prepare yourself by first reading this article in the Guardian and then follow it up by reading the book Peeking at Peak Oil. 

There is not domesday tomorrow, there is no horse and carriage tomorrow, still being on the tableland or plateau we will slowly start our journey downhill, not very steep, but slowly downhill....

Let me ask you one question, a very simple question; why do you think they drill for oil at the same depth as the height of Mount Everest and why do you think they are, even if there is a strong opposition to it, hoping to drill in the Arctic?

Because there is "no easy" oil to be found, like it was in the mid 1900´s. 

And shale oil and gas is not the answer either, even if it to some degree replaces the loss of crude oil.

In the US in particular. 

Many experts say the opposite, but there are facts that point the other way. 

OK, now you have met the serious Olle, everything in life is not easy....

Skiffergasen ingen räddningsplanka då oljan sinar. Kjell Aleklett för fram nya och obönhörliga fakta.

Idag på Brännpunkt i SvD torde det framgå för alla, att skiffergasen, inte heller den, blev den energikälla som skulle kunna väga upp den minskande råoljeproduktionen.

Kjell Aleklett f n gästprofessor på University of Texas i Austin, har närmare studerat dagens utvinning av skiffergas och skifferolja i USA, där det främst i fem områden rör sig om stora kvantiteter, i fyra av dessa fem har man redan nått maximal produktion!!!

Kjell konstaterar att i oktober nådde man en produktion av 1 miljon fat om dagen, detta i ett land där den dagliga förbrukningen är 18 miljoner fat.

Att USA då, med en maxkapacitets-utvinning idag, skulle kunna bli självförsörjande och t o m passera Saudiarabien och bli världens största producent av olja, är och förblir, tyvärr, en dröm.

Möjligen skriver Kjell Aleklett, kan en viss export av gas till Mexico bli aktuell.

Alla ni som vill ha en förändring tillstånd, läs SvD-artikeln, begrunda den och försök att påverka så att nya energissytem blir utvecklade, det brådskar som ni ser.

Kjell Alekletts bok Peeking at Peak Oil, som så många under de senaste två åren förklarat som inaktuell, är tvärtemot i högsta grad aktuellare än någonsin.

I morgon på ett stor Nobelesemeinarium "Exploring the Future of Energy" i Göteborg, får Kjell Aleklett på tillfälligt besök i hemlandet, ännu en möjlighet att utveckla sin rön, som är kalla fakta.
