So, the newly elect Iranian President Hassan Rohani has spoken.
The matter is of course, the present chemical gas attack in Damascus, Syria and a possible military strike by Western forces.
United Nations are on the spot at this very moment inspecting the site and taking samples, they are also making interviews with those who survived the attack and doctors and other hospital staff.
Hopefully the UN report will put the cards on the table with the answer - was there chemical weapons that caused so many deaths and injuries?
The UN inspectors are not in Syria to determine who used the gas against who, it´s up to other experts to decide that. UN?
If the conclusion is that the goverment forces are responsible and western powers retaliate how would strong military forces in the region, such as the Iranian, react?
A counterstrike against Israel? Or Saudi Arabia or others in the League of Arab States? Turkey? Western Europe?
If you read todays Tehran Times you may get an idea what goes in the minds of President Rohani and his advisors, both religous and military.
To me it is a little scary, if it wasn´t enough with the turmoil in Egypt, Tunisia and the unstable situation in the region as a whole, now also the threat of a conflict that no one can foresee the outcome of.
